Because the nature is the mother of humanity, it is our equal responsibilities to take care of nature to create the needed balance, UWWI works with women and youth to build resilience and protect nature from harmful human practices. Simple solutions such as alternatives to tree cutting for economic gains and fuel, conservation, climate smart agriculture and awareness creation has proved effective for UWWI. Uganda Women’s Water Initiative therefore proposed a response plan that supports the grassroots communities in rural areas to combat the strained effects of deforestation by working with women and youth within the affected communities to build the resilience of communities and ecosystems to future climate shocks and stresses, taking into consideration the unique conditions, challenges and opportunities so that we can build communities that are self-reliant, well informed and environmentally conscious and can thrive in faces of climate change thus, achieving climate justice. The project goals are to: 1. Educate 3,280elementary school students and 760 community members on environmental topics affecting them and their futures. 2. Grow 15000 trees in neglected public spaces in Kanoni Town Council. 3. Establish community partnerships to ensure that planted trees are cared for and managed long-term.
