COME LISTEN TO THE LIVE SUCCESSFUL STORIES OF WOMEN WHO HAVE BEEN BENEFICIARIES OF WOMEN AND FOREST PROJECT.
My name is Patricia Asasira. I am a resident of Kifampa village in Gomba District, a member of the Uganda Women’s Water Initiative (UWWI), and a beneficiary of the Women and Forest project. I am 23 years old and was born and raised in Kifampa, Gomba district. Growing up, I faced many challenges due to having a drunk father who never minded raising his own children. I saw how my mother struggled to make ends meet. As a result, I have never experienced a father’s love. We had one cow at home, and I took an interest in selling milk and raising animals since it was the only means for us to survive as a family.
In 2023, I received a seed grant worth 50 dollars from WEA through the Uganda Women’s Water Initiative. This investment has been the best thing that has ever happened in my entire life.
I obtained a loan from the women’s SAACO and supplemented it with the 50-dollar grant that I received. With that, I bought 2 dairy cows. I sell milk, ghee, and Bongo (Natural Yorghurt), which is a delicacy in Uganda. I have managed to improve the lives of my family members, treat my sick mother, and provide basic needs for my children.
